
Veteran Pakistani actor Qavi Khan died on Monday at the age of 80. He was undergoing treatment in Canada for a kidney-related disease. He had been in the entertainment industry for over four decades. Qavi Khan was born on November 13, 1947, in Peshawar, Pakistan. He spent his early years in Peshawar before moving to Lahore to pursue a career in acting. He started his career in the entertainment industry in the 1970s and has since appeared in over 200 movies, TV dramas, and stage plays.
Qavi was known for his versatile acting skills and has played a variety of roles throughout his career, from serious dramas to lighthearted comedies. He has worked with some of the biggest names in Pakistani cinema, including Waheed Murad, Mohammad Ali, and Nadeem Baig. He has appeared in several movies, TV dramas, and stage plays, and has won numerous awards for his performances. In 2020, Qavi was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his contributions to the entertainment industry and his philanthropic work.

He also won Lux Style Award twice, in 2003 for Best TV Actor (Terrestrial) and in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor in a Film. He has won the “Nigar Award” five times, for his performances in the movies “Zindagi” (1976), “Pakistani Billa” (1981), “Tawaif” (1985), “Mujhe Chand Chahiye” (2000), and “Ishq Khuda” (2013).

Some of his most famous works include; “Khuda Ki Basti”, a popular TV drama that aired in the 1970s, in which Qavi Khan played the role of a poor laborer. “Waris”, a TV drama that aired in the 1980s, in which Qavi Khan played the role of a patriarchal feudal lord. “Ainak Wala Jin”, a children’s TV series that aired in the 1990s, in which Qavi Khan played the role of Nastoor Jin, a lovable genie who helps children in need. “Tere Pehlu Mein” A TV drama that aired in the 2000s, in which Qavi Khan played the role of a kind-hearted grandfather. “Ishq Khuda”, movie that was released in 2013, in which Qavi Khan played the role of a Sufi saint. These works have contributed to Qavi Khan’s legacy as one of the most versatile and accomplished actors in Pakistan, and have helped to establish him as an iconic figure in the country’s entertainment industry.
