We all are visiting our favorite restaurants after months of being locked down. The following review came all the way from Lahore, by Muhammad Umair Masood. Let’s see how Umair’s favorite eatery treated him after the long break.
First post lockdown lunch with family at my favorite Chinese-Thai place, Veèra 5 in DHA, Phase 5, Lahore.
The ambiance, the service, the helpful attitude of the staff, and most importantly, the taste, quality, and presentation of the food was just as good, if not better than it was pre lockdown.
Ordered Sriracha Wings & Prawn on Toast for starters.
For mains we had:
1) Bangkok Style Black Pepper Chicken with Thai Fried Rice
2) Thai Style Chicken Cashew Nuts with Garlic Rice
3) Sesame Orange Beef with Egg Fried Rice
4) Raco’s Singaporean Chicken with Chowmein
5) Garlic Pepper Prawns.
Everything was near perfect especially the prawn on toast. I’ve had this appetizer in the best restaurants in Lahore, Islamabad & Karachi and have yet to taste better prawn toast anywhere in Pakistan.
The perennial favorites; Bangkok style black pepper chicken & Garlic pepper prawns regaled us in their full peppery spicy glory. Each mouthful exploding in a medley of flavors; the sharp crispy zing of shallots and garlic shoots and the heat from black pepper & birds eye chilies.
I’m not a fan of crispy beef style dishes so didn’t eat the beef but the rest of the family thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had Raco’s Singaporean Chicken for the first time. The sauce/gravy struck a nice balance between sweet, tangy & spicy.
The Thai style Cashew Nut Chicken was also excellent. A dry entree, comprising cashew nuts, crispy fried chicken, shallots, zucchini, whole dry red chilies & birds eye chilies. It packed a wonderful mild hot punch & is perfect for those who want a little bit of heat in their food but not too much heat.
Veèra 5 surely deserves all the accolades it gets from its patrons. Always superb!
