Song Title: Gandi Gali
Singer, Lyrics: Zaki
Music: Usman Kunji
Film by: Zoya Mukhtar
Song “Gandi Gali” is a clever sarcastic approach to one of the most concerning social issues of society, the cleanliness of streets and area.
The song is all about the dirty narrow back alleys.
We used to have those back in the days in Pakistan (or Karachi only?)
I assume they were meant to keep in touch with the neighbors in houses on the back. And they are not meant to be dirty to begin with.
I have personally seen those transformations over the years so yes I know. It used to be a good play area for us in our childhood. And perfect for women to gossips around.
The song follows singer (and songwriter), Zaki through different locations, mostly main streets that has become garbage dumpsters, narrowed now due to it and turning into, rough to navigate gandi gali, and contributing countless troubles including silent but fatal physical and mental health problems.
The music, composition and the video by a couple of good passionately creative artist friends of mine, Zoya and Usman.
They are offering budget music composition and music videos to the artists, interested to get their music out.
And of course, collaborating with them and out of my own personal interest and mission, I am helping a good film get more eyeballs by publishing on SocialsSay.com.
